How to Prepare for Injection Mold Debugging?

As we all know, preparation for debugging in injection mold manufacturing involves thoroughly checking the integrity of all mold components, confirming the suitability of raw materials, setting appropriate molding parameters, and preheating the mold to the desired temperature to ensure a smooth debugging process. As the saying goes, “Amateurs watch the show, professionals look at the details.” DAYIN Plastics, with extensive experience in the injection molding industry, would like to share some insights.

The debugging process begins with receiving a debugging notification from external collaborators or the production department. The first step is a rigorous review of both the product and mold drawings: the product drawing clarifies material specifications, geometric precision, functional features, and appearance standards (such as color, defects, impurities, seams, and dents). Meanwhile, the mold drawing ensures that the selected debugging equipment meets the mold’s technical requirements, and confirms the completeness of tools and accessories. Once the review is confirmed accurate, the drawings move to the subsequent process.

Following this, a comprehensive equipment inspection is conducted to ensure the proper functioning of oil circuits, water circuits, electrical systems, and mechanical components, along with standard equipment maintenance. Technical parameters of the equipment are also checked, including positioning ring diameter, nozzle ball radius, nozzle aperture, mold thickness range, mold stroke, tie bar spacing, and ejection method. All these parameters must meet the requirements for mold testing, ensuring thorough preparation for machine debugging.

It is especially important that the mold testing equipment matches the machine model to be used in future production, ensuring consistency in technical parameters. Differences in equipment can affect product quality, with factors like temperature fluctuations, pressure variations, cycle time, and hydraulic stability being critical. For instance, it is advisable not to test molds on machines with high clamping force and then switch to machines with lower clamping force, as this mismatch in molding conditions may require readjustment.
